Project Narrative congratulates Core Faculty member Frederick Luis Aldama on winning a 2020 International Latino Book Award for his book Reel Latinx: Representation in U.S. Film and TV. Co-written with Christopher Gonzalez, Reel Latinx explores the legacies of Latinx representation in film and television, probing into how such representation has influenced public perception of Latinx identity and how alternative representational strategies and narratives can counter stereotypes and cultural ignorance.
