My primary research interests include the intersection of narrative theory and the body in eighteenth eighteenth century British fiction.  Drawing on the concerns of rhetorical narrative theory, I'm interested in thinking about how an author's embodiment of his or her characters affects the reader's experience of the text in various ways.  I also tend to focus on formal elements of narrative, resulting in projects that consider the effect of metalepsis in twentieth century children's literature, or the role of form in disambiguating content in eighteenth century prose.
